What is an MRI?
MRI stands for Magnetic Resonance Imaging. It is a scan of part of your body that provides high-resolution detailed images of internal structures. MRI uses magnetic fields and sophisticated computer technology which does not emit x-ray radiation.

What You Should Do:
• You will be asked to fill out a screening questionnaire when you schedule your MRI exam.
• We have extended hours so you can usually schedule your appointment within 48 hours.

What Can You Expect at Your MRI Exam?
• A registered technologist specializing in MRI will conduct the test. The technologist will explain the test and answer any questions you may have beforehand.
• Throughout your MRI exam, the technologist can see and hear you. You will be provided a headset to listen to music during your exam, either your favorite radio station or you may bring a CD.
• Your images will be interpreted by a board certified radiologist, who specializes in MRI scans.

Preparation for Your MRI Exam:
• We understand the uncertainty and stress you may be going through. Our professional staff will do everything possible to make you feel calm and comfortable for your exam.
• You are welcome to visit our facility before the test to see our equipment.
• You should continue to take any medications, including pain medication, prescribed by your doctor.
• You must remove all metallic objects prior to your exam, including hair pins, jewelry, watches, etc.
• You will be asked to change clothes into a gown. If you prefer to wear your own clothes, please remember to wear loose comfortable clothes with no metal clasps, snaps, or zippers.
